There has been considerable interest in our ecological aquaculture model – particularly with respect to the variety of environmental benefits offered from this sustainable approach.  Media outlets have provided numerous, positive stories on our & Mail Earth Day edition, Food in Canada Magazine, International Aquaculture, and Northern Aquaculture), radio interviews, and HD educational video for public displays on Innovations in Aquaculture for the Vancouver Public Aquarium (videos shown on this web site). 

Our unique approach to aquatic food production will also be highlighted in an upcoming story being developed by National Geographic magazine.  An underwater photography team ( visited our current research facility and spent 7 days doing underwater photography and story development – publication is anticipated in July 2014.  You won’t believe the photos!!

Other Events:

In a recent Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance product showcase event in Ottawa, our Cascadia Sablefish were prepared with passion fruit as an Hors d'oeuvres created by the Westin Ottawa Executive Chef, Kenton Leier (see photo under recipes).  The evening event was attended by industry, Members of Parliament, and by other senior Canadian government officials.  

Cascadia Sablefish was one of 7 dishes highlighted at the 2011 and 2013  BC Shellfish Festival in the Comox Valley.  Held under white canvas tents on city oceanfront, fresh sablefish portions were prepared by Executive Chef Andrew Stigant of the Crown Isle Resort and paired with a local BC wine.  

Hot-smoked, candied Cascadia Sablefish medallions were also requested for a back-stage media event at the Vancouver Island MusicFest.  Entertainers including David Crosby, Vonda Shepard, Randy Newman, Jon Anderson, Holly Cole, and magician Jeff McBride participated in this event.
